Jones Lake

Paddle and hike along majestic Pond Cypress trees in this clean and tea-colored water lake in North Carolina.
Jones Lake

Jones Lake at Jones Lake State Park is one of the Carolina Bay Lakes in the North Carolina coastal plain region. It is a great place for picnics, swimming, paddling, camping and hiking. The Bladen Lakes State Forest land flanks the lake and the state park to the northeast and the southwest.

Pond cypresses, adorned with Spanish moss hanging from their branches, are lined up along the shores of the lake. Launch your kayak, paddle board or canoe from the accessible launch ramp, and then paddle away from the crowds in the swimming area to enjoy the beautiful and peaceful east shores of the lake, which will make you feel in a place straight out of a Jurassic Park movie.

The clean and tea-colored waters of Jones Lake create incredible light effects during sunrises and sunsets.
The views from the picnic area of Jones Lake are just beautiful.

Jones Lake State Park has a nice campground facility, which includes a few full-hookups sites for RVs in a very quiet place of the park. Reservations are required way in advance though, as this is a very popular destination with campers and camp sites sold out very quickly as they become available.
